This Life communication project is in the development phase. The Concept-Note is submitted in June 2019 and in mid-October 2019 the secratary will announce whether this project is approved and whether we can submit a full application. In this project, 7 nature conservation organisations team up along the East Atlantic Flyway of birds to reduce the disturbance of migratory birds by recreational visitors. Migratory birds, but of course also breeding birds, need quiet areas to forage and rest. It doesn’t make much sense to work on this at just a single location along the route. That is why the nature organisations involved want to collaborate in different countries. This cooperation focuses primarily on the development and testing of various communication methods to reach the identified target groups (eg fishermen, recreational enthusiasts, walkers) in such a way that they really change their interruptive behaviour. In addition, more in-depth research is being conducted into the effects of disruption by tourists and into the effect of the developed and tested methods. The project will have a size of approximately € 4 million and the requested subsidy is approximately € 2.3 million. We helped in this phase with the development of the project and the writing of the concept note.
