In this Interreg Cross-Border project (duration 2018-2020), municipalities, research institutes and innovative companies work together on a better, more efficient and above all more circular way to process wastewater in the countryside. Various new techniques and methods are being tested to ensure that wastewater can be processed on site, eliminating the need for large-scale sewage systems. This system does not only save a lot of money on management but can generate profit from the reuse of waste and energy from this water. Nine partners participate in this project, which has a total budget of approximately € 4 million and receives approximately € 2.5 million in subsidies. Wiljan van Laarhoven and I assisted in developing this project at the request of the municipality of Maarheeze and we also wrote the grant application. We provide additional advice and support during implementation.
