Main activities
Project and Consultancy firm Wim van Hooff is an internationally operating consultancy and management agency that specializes in composing and supervising (European) subsidy applications for governments, non-profit institutions and businesses. In addition, the agency operates in the field of recreation & tourism by writing policy advice, implementation and development plans and marketing. I fulfill the following roles in my work:
Grant adviser
Acting as a “home advisor” in the field of subsidies. Hereby I give periodic advice to organisations on current subsidy possibilities and I also guide them in making choices (which subsidy program is most suitable for a specific project?).
Grant scanner
Analysing and reporting the subsidy options for an organisation and / or project.
Grant application writer
Composing project ideas and preparing, drafting and / or supervising (full) grant applications.
Project management
Monitoring the process after awarding of the grant, including preparation of (periodic) claims and reports, project changes and meetings.
Recreation & tourism consultant
Supporting municipalities, provinces, nature organisations, etc. in developing their policies and action plans in the field of recreation & tourism.
Grant advisor
Organisations increasingly desire a single contact when it comes to subsidies: Someone who can indicate quickly what is possible and what is not. Wiljan van Laarhoven and I are capable of fulfilling that role as a ‘house advisor’ because we can browse through all grant options (international, national and regional) in our up-to-date database and can rely on our own extensive experience. In addition, we have many good contacts with many fund offices that we can call directly to for example ask for their advice. If you need a subsidy expert, we can offer it!
Perform subsidy scan
Organisations often want to know what kind of subsidy options there are for them or for their activities. Performing a (quick) subsidy scan can be a good tool for this. This scan provides the client with insight into the subsidy options for certain projects or for internal business processes (sustainability, training, etc.) in a relatively short time. Based on an analysis, the best grant options are briefly and concisely explained in a clear report. We are happy to explain the options for your organisation.
Prepare grant applications
We are experts in compiling cross-border applications. Grant applications come in many forms. Sometimes it is a simple procedure, when it consists only of a short application form. In most cases, however, it is an extensive procedure that also includes a project plan. When it comes to European applications, applicants must also take into account international interests and cultural differences. We have a lot of experience in drafting different types of applications. In addition, we have a large network in countries such as Ireland, England, Belgium, France, Germany and of course The Netherlands, making it relatively easy for us to find foreign partners. Many applications were successfully submitted and we are therefore convinced of our approach. We are happy to detail our approach in a personal conversation!
Compiling subsidy programs
Thanks to our experience in the area of grants, we are not only able to prepare good grant applications, but also to compile grant programs ourselves. In recent years we have done that for a Leader program in the region south of Eindhoven (NL) and for the island of Voorne-Putten (NL). In the first case, money was made available by the province for such a program and we wrote the program in terms of contents and organisation (the subsidy regulations were made by stimulus). In the second case, we first wrote an Investment Program for the region, after which the Dutch province of South Holland made € 2.5 million available for implementation. We then wrote the corresponding subsidy regulations, of which we are currently running the secretariat for its execution.
Taking care of Project Management
The project management of an approved grant application is a profession in its own right, especially if it concerns a European grant and a cross-border partnership. It requires not only insight into the rules and guidelines of the grant program but also insight into the process of the project. Many EU programs namely also require cross-border cooperation. As a result, the project manager must be a “jack-of-all-trades” who takes into account the interests of all partners, can deal with cultural differences, speaks his languages and understands EU procedures and guidelines. Such a project manager ensures that partners work together optimally and maximally use the awarded subsidy. The project manager is usually appointed by the Lead Partner of the project. We can inform you extensively about what the role of Lead Partner entails for an organisation.
Workshops and other activities
Based on our many years of experience with (European) subsidies, we have developed and supervised a Masterclass Working in European Projects on behalf of the Dutch Province of North-Brabant. Based on our experience we can provide in-house training courses or workshops to equip employees to apply for subsidies themselves. If you want to know more about training, we would like to make an appointment with you!
