This Interreg border region project started in 2017 and is being run by the municipality of Dordrecht (NL). The aim of the project is to let educational institutions (intermediate and higher (academic) education) work together in the development of new teaching modules and programs in the field of the biobased economy. Up until now, there are just a few training programs for this relatively new sector. Because this sector is developing rapidly, many companies need (better) trained staff. Through cooperation, complementary programs are developed, better exchanges of teachers and students can take place and cooperation with companies in the biobased sector can be remodeled. In the first contact with companies, we established what kind of staff they need. Subsequently, the school lessons programs were developed, followed by internships, learning research projects and such. Eight schools participate in this project. The project budget is approximately € 4 million, and the subsidy obtained approximately € 2.5 million. The project was shaped and developed by us, we compiled the partnership and wrote the grant application (all at the request of the municipality of Dordrecht). Since approval, we also support the project with implementation and project management.
